Herriot Country

I read Jerry Hulse’s Travel Tips in the Milwaukee Journal and enjoy it very much. We booked a cottage in the Cotswolds in England through a suggestion in the column.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Ken Wiseman of Thirsk, Yorkshire. We hired him for a day to tour the Dales, with special emphasis on the places in the “All Creatures Great and Small” TV series. He took us to places we never would have found and we had a delightful day in a comfortable car. He took us to his home and we had tea with his wife, Hazel.
We did meet James Herriot (James Whyte) in Thirsk at his surgery. There was a long line of people with books, but we got in, had our books autographed and even got a picture. We were charmed. It made our trip!
Thanks to Jerry Hulse for his delightful column. We love the tips, especially the B&B; ones, and sights we wouldn’t see without the advice.
