Los Angeles police Sunday were investigating the death of a 16-year-old San Fernando youth who was intentionally rammed by a car that sped away.

The body of David Bush was found near Borden Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics thought the youth was a pedestrian who had been hit by a car.

But detectives said Sunday that witnesses told police another story. Witnesses said the youth was leaning next to an occupied parked car that suddenly started moving. Someone in the car grabbed Bush, who was dragged several feet, witnesses said.

The car then careened to the side, hitting a parked car. Bush was crushed between the vehicles. The occupants of the car then released the youth and drove away, police said.

Bush was taken to Serra Memorial Health Center in Sun Valley, where he died, authorities said.

Police said the Borden/Van Nuys area is a haven for drug dealers and gang members.
