The World : American Child Kidnaped

A 3-year-old American girl has been kidnaped in the southern Philippines, an army spokesman said in Manila. The child, identified as Linaces Cawley, was seized Friday while playing outside her house on Basilan Island. Manila newspapers said she is the granddaughter of a Filipino-American, William Cawley. Her abductors were not known. Last week, Muslim rebels released 10 Roman Catholic nuns and an American Protestant missionary kidnaped in separate incidents on Mindanao Island.
