12 Sri Lanka Soldiers Killed, Rebels Say

MADRAS, India — Tamil militants reported that 12 Sri Lankan soldiers were killed Sunday in the explosion of a land mine planted by Tamil guerrillas and that many more troops died in another rebel attack.
The Liberation Tigers said in a press release that the mine blew up as troops were going to Vadamunai village to attack Tamils in Batticaloa district.
