Gardena : Home Building Board OKd

The City Council approved creation of a Home Building Improvement Assistance Board to assist homeowners in making minor repairs.

Plans call for the appointment of a five-member volunteer board that will offer “basic non-technical advice” to homeowners who want to make improvements that do not require a permit or the services of a licensed contractor.

The board will include a licensed general building contractor, a licensed electrical contractor, a licensed plumbing contractor, a licensed architect or building designer and a licensed civil or structural engineer.

Board members, who must live or work in Gardena, can be nominated by any member of the City Council.
