Share

A retired administrator from East Los Angeles College has been hired as interim vice president of instructional services at Cerritos College while a search is conducted to fill the job, vacant since December.

Noel Korn, retired vice president of academic affairs at East Los Angeles, was selected on a 6-0 vote by the Cerritos Board of Trustees Tuesday for three months or until a permanent replacement is hired. Trustee Katie Nordbak was on vacation.

Korn will start working at the 18,000-student campus on Monday. He will be paid $6,444 a month. Korn was hired through Glenn Gooder and Associates, an educational consulting firm based in Fremont, Calif.

The college has had problems filling the position. Earlier this month, Manuel G. Rivera, vice president of academic affairs at San Antonio College in Texas, accepted the job but changed his mind to accept the position of president of San Bernardino Valley College.

The board then decided to reject seven finalists for the job and begin a new search.
