West Hollywood : Street Festival Donor Found

Share

A week after the City Council approved a $15,000 matching fund proposal to help finance West Hollywood’s first Street Festival, a national brewing firm has agreed to help underwrite the event’s costs.

According to project specialist Joyce Azelton, Anheuser-Busch Inc. has pledged to contribute $12,000. Azelton said this week that she expects to receive a commitment for the remaining $3,000 soon, which would release the $15,000 in city funds.

The festival is scheduled for Sept. 6 and 7.

The council already had committed $10,000 to pay the salaries of the festival’s organizers, said city spokeswoman Helen Goss.

“We’re definitely on the way,” Azelton said, adding that 50 vendors of crafts and novelties have signed up to participate in the festival. Festival organizers expect 80 to 100 vendors to eventually join the event.
