Delta Air Lines announced that net income for its fiscal year and fourth quarter ended June 30 fell 81.7% and 73%, respectively. “The earnings for both the quarter and the fiscal year reflect the growing intensity of competition in the airline industry in general and in Delta’s markets in particular,” said Robert Oppenlander, vice chairman and chief financial officer of the Atlanta-based carrier.
