DuPont said second-quarter profit rose 41% from last year due to strong overseas sales and strong results from its chemicals division. “The substantial increase in earnings reflects strong international results and an improving cost structure,” Chairman Richard Heckert said in a statement. Revenue was down 6% to $6.9 billion, largely due to the fall in oil prices. Du Pont owns Conoco, the nation’s 15th-largest oil company.
