Andy Warhol, who brought us from the Ashcan to the soup can in current art, is nothing if not up front: Images from his 1982 “Dollar Sign” series now grace the cover of a corporate annual report. The newly public Martin Lawrence Limited Editions of Van Nuys, a fine-art firm, has a publishing contract with Warhol that allows it to use the artist’s works on its corporate report. According to Martin Lawrence vice president Elliott Blinder, Warhol is perfect for the limited edition of 5,500 annual reports. “He’s united the art world with the business world. He has brought a very commercial image to fine art--it’s the perfect merger,” says Blinder, for whom the hubbub about this cover has fulfilled another Warhol dictum: Blinder has now been famous for 15 minutes. OK, Elliott, your time’s up.
