A 22-month-old Orange County boy remained in critical condition late Monday at a Philadelphia hospital after emergency surgery made possible by private donations.

Parents of the boy, Ernesto Renteria, were helped by Santa Ana-based Martin Aviation, which donated an airplane, and the William Lyon Co., which donated the fuel, said Doug Wood, a Childrens Hospital of Orange County spokesman.

The boy, a doctor, nurse and respiratory therapist were flown to Philadelphia on Saturday.

Ernesto needed a third operation, which was performed Monday, to correct a hypoplastic heart, a congenital heart defect, Wood said.
