Monterey Park : Redevelopment Studied

The City Council has directed the city staff to begin studies to determine whether a redevelopment project area should be created along portions of Garvey and Garfield avenues and North Atlantic Boulevard. The area contains commercial and residential property.

Leslie Andersen Little, economic development officer, told the council that the area is losing major business tenants to more modern retail centers. Creation of a redevelopment project, she said, would enable the city to work with property owners and developers to plan and finance improvements.
