Temple City : Shopping Trips for Seniors

Share

Regular trips to four local markets will begin Friday under the city’s Dial-a-Ride program for residents age 60 or older or those who are permanently handicapped.

The shuttle will go to Albertson’s and Young’s on Mondays, to Ralph’s on Wednesdays and Alpha Beta on Fridays. Home pickups will be made between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the return shuttle will be at the markets at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Dial-a-Ride, which costs 50 cents each way, will still take residents to markets on other days but Victor Kobett, director of the Parks and Recreation Department, said he hopes seniors will enjoy shopping together.

Dial-a-Ride operates within city limits except for trips to doctors, hospitals and government facilities, when it will travel to Arcadia, Rosemead, San Gabriel and El Monte.
