South Gate : Water Bills to Rise $1.15

Share

The City Council has approved an increase in the water rate that will add $1.15 to the bills of residential customers, said Rollie D. Berry, city engineer and director of public works. The increase goes into effect Sept. 1.

The council voted unanimously Monday for the 5-cents-per-100-cubic-feet increase, which will produce about $218,000 in revenue for the remainder of the fiscal year, he said.

The council had been considering a staff recommendation to raise the rates from 60 cents to 70 cents, but struck a compromise at 65 cents.
