Huntington Park : Claim Filed Against Police

Share

A claim was filed against Huntington Park last week charging a negligent police investigation of a homicide and violation of civil rights.

Gudrun Driscoll Hart is charging that her ex-husband, John Francis Driscoll, who was found in a pool of blood June 3 near a Huntington Park bar, was struck on the head by unknown assailants. Francis Driscoll, a Huntington Park resident, died June 17. Hart asked Huntington Park police to investigate the death as an assault and murder and was refused, according to the claim.

Sgt. Hal Butler of the Huntington Park Police Department said police ruled that the incident was accidental based on two coroner reports that stated that the man had fallen and hit his head. He said police talked to witnesses and didn’t find any evidence indicating foul play.

The claim will go before the City Council for denial or approval.
