Culver City : Media Park Lease Approved
The Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission has approved a 40-year lease of Media Park to the Culver City Redevelopment Agency. The decision was made after a month’s postponement during which the Los Angeles city attorney’s office studied a 1971 Superior Court ruling ordering Los Angeles to “cease from selling, conveying, or otherwise disposing of Media Park.” The study determined that the ruling had no bearing on the lease.
The lease will allow the Redevelopment Agency to improve and maintain the Venice Boulevard park for public use. It also will allow for restoration and preservation of adjacent Ivy Substation, a former station building previously the property of the Pacific Electric Railway system.
