The Real Guadalajara

Share

I just finished Dorothy Freeman’s article on Guadalajara for the third time (June 22). I am sending the article to some friends as a perfect example of ethnocentricity. She goes to one of the most exotic countries in the world, stays at a Sheraton, eats food that is “similar to California Mexican” and then visits “Chula Vista, a retirement community for Americans.” Where else would she visit?

My favorite was, “It was handy to have Mexican coins and bills for small purchases.” She tops off her trip by taking her evening entertainment at her hotel, with three bars, a supper club, etc.

People have a right to travel as they wish. All I can say is that my trip to Guadalajara was much more entertaining and thought-provoking. It was also less expensive.
