University of Miami Athletic Director Sam Jankovich said he was “encouraged” after interviews with parties in the leased-car controversy involving the Hurricane football team and that he will talk with NCAA officials later in the week to discuss possible violations.
Jankovich spoke with two players, some of their family members and two men directly involved in obtaining the leases through professional agents. Four Miami players--Jerome Brown, Alonzo Highsmith, Winston Moss and Cleveland Gary--received leases on cars, which could violate regulations prohibiting athletes from getting special benefits.
