Discovery Oil filed for protection under Chapter 11.

Andrew V. Ippolito, president of the Los Angeles-based firm, said: “We take this action with regret after numerous and extended efforts to satisfy our company’s lender through a restructuring or acquisition of the company’s loan.” Discovery Oil Ltd. is engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production.
