House Approves Drought Aid

WASHINGTON —
The House today unanimously approved a bill directing the federal government to give additional emergency assistance to farmers and ranchers hit by prolonged drought in much of the country.
The bill, passed on a 418-0 vote and sent to the Senate, would require the Agriculture Department to provide feed or assist in the purchase of feed for livestock or poultry in areas affected by the drought, particularly the Southeast.
