Israel will likely forfeit its October Davis Cup tennis match against Switzerland because it coincides with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, Israeli Ambassador David Rivlin said.

Rivlin said that a group of Orthodox rabbis in Switzerland had written to Prime Minister Shimon Peres protesting the scheduling of the Oct. 3 match. Rivlin added that the Israeli Foreign Ministry is discussing a possible scheduling change with the London-based International Tennis Federation.
