Show Time at Cal Lutheran

Share

Kurt Rambis put up a three-point shot in the closing seconds of the seventh game of the NBA finals at Cal Lutheran on Wednesday to enable the Lakers to edge the Boston Celtics for the world title.

OK, so it was only Laker play-by-play man Chick Hearn announcing the fictitious ending to a fictitious game to a group of youngsters attending the five-day Pat Riley basketball camp at Cal Lutheran.

The 205 kids on hand didn’t seem to mind. They cheered just as loudly as if they’d actually seen the dramatic finish. Rambis himself addressed the group earlier in the week as did teammate Michael Cooper.

Riley, the Laker coach, and a group of assistants have been on hand all week, offering campers instruction on everything from layups to ballhandling to shooting techniques.

This first Pat Riley camp at Cal Lutheran ends today, but the Laker coach hopes to make it an annual summer event.
