Rehnquist Nomination
Upon hearing the verbatim broadcasts of the Senate committee questioning of Rehnquist, I must conclude that he either has a totally faulty memory on matters of some significance or is totally cavalier with the truth.
He “could not recall” any details of matters that reflected unfavorably upon him, but, oddly enough, recalled quite readily matters that made him look good. Neither a selective amnesiac nor an opportunistic falsifier is a fit candidate for the lifetime position of chief justice of our United States.
