The nation’s largest publicly owned home health care company and five officers and employees were indicted in the alleged theft of $1.82 million from the Medicaid program in New York from 1981 to 1985. In addition, those charged are accused of engaging in a statewide criminal conspiracy to fabricate thousands of company records to deceive outside auditors and conceal the theft, New York state Medicaid special prosecutor Edward Kuriansky said. Professional Care Inc., based in Plainview, N.Y., provides home nursing, medical equipment and respiratory care services in 44 cities in 13 states, Kuriansky said.
