An Anaheim supplier of computer components has been chosen to participate in the development of California’s new computerized lottery system.
Macrolink Inc. has been awarded a $100,000 contract to supply four of its solid state disk systems to GTECH of Providence, R.I., which will incorporate them into the system it is preparing for the state lottery. The disk systems will enable the computers to process more than 400,000 transactions per minute, according to a prepared statement from the company.
The computerized lottery system will consist of over 5,000 terminals scattered throughout the state and should be ready for use sometime next month. It is expected to handle over 10 million bets during the first week of operation.
