Federal agents took more than $3 million in alleged drug-trafficking receipts and arrested a 13th suspect in what they call the biggest cocaine-smuggling ring in the United States. U.S. Atty. James West said that Michael Phillippo, manager of a country club at Ardsley, N.Y., was being held on a smuggling conspiracy charge after $3.1 million in cash was found at his home in North Tarrytown, N.Y. West described Phillippo as a “principal lieutenant” in an operation that brought in 7.5 tons of cocaine from Colombia in the last six years. Indictments of the others were announced last week, after $4.2 million was found at one man’s home. No cocaine was found.
