A European-made airliner, fitted with General Electric jet engines, has been delivered to Libya in violation of an embargo on exporting U.S. technology to the regime of Col. Moammar Kadafi, the British newspaper Observer reported. The plane, once owned by British Caledonian Airways, was flown to Libya from Jordan last week despite attempts by the company to stop the flight. British Caledonian said last month that it had begun legal proceedings to block the planned resale to Libya of two A-310 Airbuses that had been sold to a Hong Kong aircraft trading firm. The second Airbus is expected to be delivered to Libya soon.
