Flo Silverthon, formerly a division controller for the Buie Corp. and for Barratt Homes, has joined Brehm Communities as controller. In her position with the San Diego-based residential development firm she will be responsible for corporate financial planning.

James W. Smith, an architect, has been appointed vice president in charge of development for R. G. Harris Co., a Malibu-based development and investment firm. Smith has owned his own firm and been involved in a variety of architectural and construction projects.

Donald E. Bender, a survey supervisor with the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, will be serving as the new president of the American Congress on Surveying & Mapping. He also served as president of the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

Adra Sherk has been promoted to vice president at Richardson Nagy Martin, Newport Beach and Dallas, Texas. She has been directly involved in project team management for a resort community and conference center in New Mexico and with Westpark, Irvine.

William J. Burke has been appointed director of the general contracting division of M. J. Brock & Sons Inc. He previously served as senior vice president and project manager for Pozzo Construction Co.

Nancy Donovan, former director of marketing for the Marina del Rey Marriott, has been named director of marketing for the new Long Beach Airport Marriott hotel. Brad Blankenship has been named its director of sales.

Martin Ucker and R. Michael Ryan have been promoted to senior associates at the San Diego- and San Francisco-based firm of SGPA Planning & Architecture.

William R. Calvert has been promoted to vice president/residential branch manager at First Interstate Mortgage Co., San Diego. Herschel W. Silverstone has been promoted to vice president/construction engineer.

Bruce E. Anderson has joined W. Ross Campbell Co., Los Angeles, as a vice president in charge of its construction lending department. Hugh K. Sinnock also joined the firm as a vice president and directs the firm’s San Diego County area real estate finance operations.

C. Earl Corkett, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., San Francisco, has been elected president of the Mortgage Insurance Cos. of America.

Dale Gleed has been named vice president of engineering for Carmel Mountain Ranch and Presley of San Diego. He is responsible for coordinating all engineering and off-site construction for the two entities.

Michael E. Maguire, recently appointed chief underwriting counsel, has been elected a senior vice president at Ticor Title Insurance Co. Mark M. Feld has been appointed vice president and district manager for the eastern Los Angeles County operations in Rosemead.

Richard J. Wilson has joined Fuscoe Williams Lindgren & Short, Santa Ana, as a project engineer. He will act as a chief designer and coordinator for the firm’s projects.
