Southerners favor Vice President George Bush and Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee A. Iacocca among all possible presidential candidates, a 17-state poll said. Former Sen. Howard H. Baker Jr. (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Gary Hart (D-Colo.) also fared well in the survey conducted by the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer in advance of the Southern Governors Conference, which began Sunday. Two of the poll’s biggest losers were television evangelist Pat Robertson, who is considering a Republican presidential bid, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, an unsuccessful Democratic presidential hopeful in 1984.
