The Army has begun an investigation to determine whether two aging models of helicopters should be grounded because of a pattern of engine failures. The investigation, which focuses on the OH-6 and OH-58A light observation helicopters, is expected to be completed some time this week, said Lt. Col. Craig MacNab, an Army spokesman. The two copters use the same engine, made by the Allison Division of General Motors.
