Ultrasystems Inc. in Irvine said it has been awarded seven new Defense Department contracts that have a total value of $13 million, including options on the major contract.

The names of specific customers and the exact services and products Ultrasystems will provide are classified, said Phillip J. Stevens, the company’s chairman and president.

The major contract, signed Monday, is valued at $7.1 million and, if options are exercised, will exceed $11 million. The 11-month contract calls for the training of government personnel in special communications codes, Stevens said.
