Arcadia : Condemnation to Begin
The Arcadia City Council, acting as the Redevelopment Agency, has voted to begin condemnation proceedings against six parcels of property in an area south of Huntington Drive where a $9-million redevelopment project is planned.
The project, east of 2nd Avenue, will include 88,500 square feet for offices, 36,165 square feet for retail space and 17,243 square feet for restaurants. Court proceedings on four other properties were continued until Tuesday because the agency is close to reaching agreement with those owners.
Peter Kinnahan, assistant city manager for economic development, said that despite condemnation proceedings, negotiations will continue with the owners of the six properties at 218, 300-308, 310-322, 326 and 400 E. Huntington Drive and 11 S. 4th Ave.
