Death in Jail Traced to Blood Poisoning
An autopsy showed that a Northridge man who died in custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department succumbed to blood poisoning caused by a severe throat infection, authorities said.
David Clarence White, 31, of Northridge had been in custody since Aug. 1 on a rape charge. He died Sunday in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center, Sheriff’s Sgt. Irene McReynolds said.
The autopsy found no evidence of injury, officials said.
