In This Hunt, So Far It’s Sorry, Charlie

Gen Taylor of Burbank would like to find some Charlie body lotion by Revlon; it is for a 92-year-old lady in a convalescent hospital, who has been using the product in the past and wants nothing else. But where to obtain it? Can some body help, or will Taylor develop a charley horse before she has a notion to take a potion because she can’t find the lotion?

Ruby Malley of Anaheim may be all wet, but she persists in searching for a place in Orange County that carries water - glass-size Libbey glassware in the Facet pattern. Can you help before Malley becomes glassy-eyed from looking and gets pushed to the drink of despair?

Marjorie Mowry of Northridge would like to replace a pair of Dr. Scholl’s arch-support sandals that have straps over the toes and around the ankles. The ankle strap is adjustable with metal eyelets, and the toe strap has the word Scholl on a metal plate; both straps are made of heavy, high-quality leather. Can you help without stepping on someone’s toes, or will Mowry, if she is really strapped for a source, be eyeing a suit for nonsupport?

Marilyn Gingrich of Laguna Niguel has joined Susan Johnson of Whittier in a search for a firm that will rent camper shells for an ’81 El Camino pickup truck. But so far, no replies. Does nobody want to have any truck with these ladies, whose hearts are about to brake?

Reader-to-Reader Help Line: Nancy at (714) 494-8658 needs a replacement - fittings set (including faucet, handles and other parts) for a Crane corner sink with an angled deck; the part number is 8-2012A. For a while, her request had the flow of success, because several plumbing-supply houses suggested a C-1072G as a replacement, but that didn’t do the trick; she needs the old part. Please take the plunge and help, so that Nancy won’t feel all her efforts have gone down the drain. . . . Martha at (818) 363-1670 needs cups and saucers in Doulton’s Selbourne pattern. The pieces are green and white; border trim and edges are in gold. Please help before Martha--and her saucers--get smashed from being in the cups too long.

Note: The Reader-to-Reader Help Line is only for one-time items and for products no longer available in stores. And you must give us written permission to publish your telephone number, so that others may contact you directly.

Verna Palm of Glendale, who was looking for the rules to the card game 99, can start counting to 100. Gail Monroe sent us a copy of the rules, which we have forwarded to Palm. Anyone else interested? Send us a stamped, self-addressed envelope, and we’ll guarantee you a great deal.

Jane Gaede of Los Alamitos and Rena Drucker of Los Angeles, both of whom were looking for screw pins to fasten down armchair covers, may rest easy: After some screwtiny, we can help. Moyna Harris of Anaheim has purchased screw pins not far from Gaede’s home, at Sprouse Reitz on Brookhurst Street and Ball Road, Anaheim. Muriel Anthony found some screw pins at the Cloth World in Fullerton, and Phyllis Lawler was successful at her Cloth World fabric store--in Oxnard. A few years ago, Ruth A. Phillips of Los Angeles bought some of these pins at a F.W. Woolworth store, and Lois Johnson says McVey’s Hardware in Temple City has them also. Four other readers suggested, without listing specific places, that upholstery shops stock these pins.

We also have two mail order sources. Paulette Fried of Los Angeles, Mrs. Daniel Sjoberg of Santa Paula and Susan Fishman of Glendora mentioned Miles Kimball, 41 West 8th Ave., Oshkosh, Wis. 54906. Jean Gard of Long Beach, Jane Madsen of Havasu Lake, Marie Mickas of San Gabriel, Alice Davitt of Westchester and Audrey Thalimer of Long Beach suggested Walter Drake & Sons, Drake Building, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80940. We also heard from a reader who has about 50 screw pins to give away; a stamped, self-addressed envelope will pin down details.
