Queen Mother Elizabeth was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a Royal Air Force helicopter today after she complained of discomfort after eating fish during her vacation in Scotland, a royal spokesman said.

The 86-year-old “Queen Mum” was making her annual three-week stay at her Scottish home, the Castle of Mey, enjoying fish on her menu every day of her holiday as she has for years.

The spokesman said the discomfort followed Thursday’s dinner, but he did not elaborate and would not comment on her condition.

Before boarding the helicopter, the Queen Mother was well enough to have lunch today with Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family visiting Scotland on the royal yacht Britannia.

In 1982, the Queen Mother spent four days in King Edward VIII Hospital in London for an operation to remove a fish bone lodged in her throat.
