America’s Finest City Week--a nine-day celebration--begins at noon today with a 36-mile bike tour that starts at the B Street Pier.
Opening ceremonies will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the B Street Pier with U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) as the special guest. Wilson, who designated the celebratory week while mayor of San Diego, will be joined by Mayor Maureen O’Connor, City Council members and an estimated crowd of 5,000 people, said Lori Sheets, America’s Finest City Week director.
Sheets said the ceremonies will close with one of the largest firework shows ever in the City of San Diego.
