Former Simi Valley players Scott Radinsky and Dave Milstien have been invited to play in the Florida Instructional League, which begins Sept. 17. Radinsky, currently pitching for the Chicago White Sox rookie league team in Sarasota, Fla. has had his playing time limited by injuries suffered in a car accident three weeks ago.

“He’s had a back problem from the accident,” said Steve Noworyta, assistant director of player development for the White Sox. “But he’s coming back now. Anytime a kid gets invited to the instructional league, it’s a positive sign.

Milstien plays shortstop for the Boston Red Sox rookie league team in Elmira, N.Y. “We only take our better young players to the league,” said ed Kenney, Red Sox farm director. “He’s playing shortstop for us. As of Aug. 6, he was hitting .182, but he’s picked up his hitting lately.” Northridge Diver to Represent U.S.

North Ranch Plays Host to Collegians

The Southwestern Intercollegiate Invitational golf tournament, which will be held at North Ranch Country Club on Oct. 6-7, has drawn a strong field of teams, including UCLA, USC, Brigham Young, Arizona State, Stanford and Florida, among others.

Tournament officials say many of the schools want a look at the North Ranch course that will play host to the 1988 NCAA national championship.

Defending Southwestern champion Oklahoma State will miss the tournament because the Cowboys will be playing in a tournament at Ohio State, the site of the 1987 NCAA national championship. Houston, last year’s runner-up will also play at Ohio State.

Southwestern’s 54-hole format includes 36 holes on the first day of competition and 18 holes the final day.
