The World : 11 Die in Iran Bomb Blast

A car bomb exploded in Iran’s shrine city of Qom, killing 11 people and injuring 100, Tehran radio reported. The official Iranian news agency said the explosion, the deadliest of six bombings reported by the Iranian media since the beginning of the year, was the work of “agents of imperialism,” a label often applied to various underground groups. Qom, 100 miles southeast of Tehran, is considered Iran’s holiest city. The bombing occurred as Shia Muslim pilgrims were visiting Qom as part of Eid al Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice.
