Philippine police arrested a suburban Manila businessman as the suspected hit man in an alleged plot by supporters of deposed President Ferdinand E. Marcos to assassinate President Corazon Aquino. James Lazo, 45, a former air force sergeant who deals in used cars, denied knowing of the plot, reportedly disclosed in a letter sent to authorities by a former policeman. The letter said three men, including Lazo, were hired to carry out the plot within the next four months.
