One of the two jail escapees suspected of kidnaping and robbing an Antelope Valley family was arrested in South Dakota. Authorities said Ronald Stover, 31, was found hiding under a vehicle at his mother’s home near Edgemont. Police were also waiting to learn whether Stover’s fellow Rapid City, S.D., escapee, Darrell Jones, 32, was one of three people arrested in Colby, Kan. Stover and Jones are believed to have kidnaped Maynard Caler, 72, along with Caler’s wife, Bertha, 65, daughter, Marie Klein, 48, and granddaughter, Catherine Klein, 25, in Las Vegas last week, then making them drive to the Caler home in Llano near Pearblossom. The two men are accused of stealing the Caler family car and forcing Maynard Caler to withdraw $14,000 from a bank account before fleeing. Earlier, after their July 27 breakout, Stover and Jones allegedly held a South Dakota family hostage for three days and stole their truck.
