Jazz Trades Dantley to the Pistons
The Detroit Pistons traded forwards Kelly Tripucka and Kent Benson to the Utah Jazz Thursday for two-time NBA scoring champion Adrian Dantley and second-round draft choices in 1987 and 1990.
Dantley, 30, averaged 29.8 points a game last season. He won the league scoring title in 1981 and 1984, and his career scoring average is 26.5.
Utah has been trying to unload Dantley since he and Frank Layden, coach and general manager of the Jazz, had a series of disagreements last season.
Tripucka, 27, averaged 20 points and 4 rebounds last season for the Pistons, and Benson, 31, averaged 6.5 points and 5.2 rebounds.
