If a proposal before the Tustin City Council passes, drug screening--including lie-detector tests and thorough background checks--would be mandatory for all Tustin municipal employees and elected officials.
In addition to Mayor Donald J. Saltarelli, who drafted the proposal, three of the four remaining council members back the proposed tests and gave their endorsements at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
If the proposal passes, it would institute the most far-reaching drug-testing program in any Orange County city.
