Amy Corrigan of Newport Beach Rides Coming Up Roses to Its Second Victory

Coming Up Roses picked up its second blue ribbon in the Junior Riders on Walking Mares or Geldings class for riders 12-14 years of age Sunday during the 48th annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. Amy Corrigan was in the saddle for Ocean Front Foods of Newport Beach.

Cindy Beech already had ridden the horse to the blue in the mare class for riders 11 years and under.

Ebony Go Boy’s Dream also picked up its second blue ribbon. Ridden by co-owner Gene Akers of Fenton, Mo., Ebony Go Boy’s Dream took first place in the Owner-Amateur Riders on Walking Mares, 15.2 hands and under class. Trainer Jimmy McConnel of Union City, Tenn., won a blue ribbon with the mare Friday night in the Walking Mares 15.2 and Under Class.

The highlight of Sunday night’s program for the estimated 8,500 fans was the Four-Year-Old Stallion class. Copy’s Spirit Man, ridden by Allan Callway, won first in Division A for owners Carl and Kathyrn Nichols of Athens, Ga. The Secret’s Out, with Billy Gray riding, was first in Division B for The Secret’s Out Syndicate of Shelbyville.
