CALIFORNIA - News from Aug. 26, 1986

Tatsuro Toyoda, president and chief executive of New United Motor, the joint car building venture of Toyota and General Motors, will be reassigned to Toyota Motor Corp. in Japan. He was named managing director of the Fremont-based venture when it was formed in 1982 and became president and chief executive in February, 1984.

Named as his successor is Kan Higashi, who has been executive vice president and chief operating officer since 1984.
