China announced that East German leader Erich Honecker will visit Peking in mid or late October. Honecher’s visit at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party is expected to pave the way for the formal renewal of party relations with East Berlin and other Eastern European parties which sided with Moscow in the Sino-Soviet split in the mid-1960s.
