University of Michigan Athletic Director Don Canham announced he will retire effective at the end of 1987.
Canham said he will step down because of university rules that require faculty and staff to retire before or during the year they reach age 70. Employees 70 or older can be rehired on a temporary or part-time basis. Canham turns 70 on April 27, 1988.
