The Rose Bowl Bruins/Joe Bevis Scholarship has been established at UCLA, announced Robert H. Gray, dean of the College of Fine Arts.
The Rose Bowl Bruins, a support group whose members live near that stadium, was founded by Bevis in 1982, when UCLA home football games were first played at the bowl. The scholarship consists of two $500 awards, given annually to qualified UCLA juniors majoring in the visual and performing arts.
Recipients must live in one of 17 communities near the Rose Bowl, and preference will be given to recent transfer students from Pasadena or Glendale city colleges or East Los Angeles College.
