‘Ambulance Chaser’ Gets 6-Month Term

A South-Central Los Angeles man has been sentenced to six months in jail for “ambulance chasing” on behalf of a law firm.

Moses Burke, 37, had been arrested at the scene of a traffic accident on Western Avenue last year after he was seen urging two people involved in the collision to call a Van Nuys-based firm.

Burke was sentenced to the maximum jail term for the violation of “capping,” or soliciting clients for an attorney, by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Suzanne Person. He was also ordered jailed for an additional 173 days for violating probation on a previous, unrelated, drunk-driving conviction, the city attorney’s office said.
