Afghan Talks End a Day Early

MOSCOW — Senior U.S. and Soviet officials meeting to discuss the conflict in Afghanistan had businesslike talks and completed their agenda a day early, U.S. Embassy officials said today.
“There are things we do not agree much on,” one embassy official said. “They have their views and we have ours and our views are not the same. But the talks were conducted in a businesslike manner.” Afghanistan has been a sticking point in U.S.-Soviet relations for years.
