‘Making War for Fun’

Share

It seems the trappings of guerrilla warfare now add excitement and adult interest to the mock war games that children have played for generations. Perhaps we can enjoy this kind of fun because the United States has little experience of the agony that modern warfare inflicts on civilians.

Every day children are killed or maimed in Central America, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Africa. In our own country and in the Soviet Union children are aware of and fearful of the nuclear threat. For the sake of the children, for the sake of the planet, let’s reject violence as a way of doing business so that the idea of war survives only as a game.
